Pricing transparency at happyhotel: This is how our price recommendations are created

Why transparency is crucial in pricing

Many hoteliers use dynamic prices but come across the same question in everyday life:
Why is the system recommending exactly this price today?

With the new feature, we are making pricing logic visible. The aim is to create trust in automation and at the same time to make it possible to better classify pricing decisions and, if necessary, to refine them in a targeted manner.

The basis of every price proposal: three key factors

Happyhotel first calculates a dynamic starting price for each day. This is based on three key influencing factors:

1. happyhotel demand indicator
The demand indicator shows where the current forecast for your house is. It forms the basis for the RevPAR forecast and is constantly adapting to new data.

2. Events in your area
Events are included in the price calculation in two ways:

  • Automatically imported events The relevant number of visitors is taken into account directly in the demand indicator.
  • Manually maintained events Can you weight yourself, e.g. at new or unique events that cannot be represented historically.

Visible for every day Whether and to what extent an event influences the price.

3. Competitor prices
happyhotel shows where your competitors currently stand — and also how the recommended price has changed compared to the previous suggestion. This makes it clear how market developments are incorporated into the recommendation.

Dynamic weighting — new every day

All factors are Dynamically weighted on a daily basis.
This means that demand, events and competition do not have the same influence every day, but are taken into account to different degrees depending on the situation. It is precisely this weighting that characterizes modern, automated pricing — and is now presented transparently.

Additional influences: Booking speed & settings

In addition to the initial price, Happyhotel takes into account further information, which is explicitly displayed in the new feature:

  • Booking speed: How is booking behavior currently developing in your hotel?
  • Installment plan settings: Do minimum or maximum prices apply?
  • pricing strategies: Are there rules defined for specific days or categories?

You can see exactly:

  • What was the initial price proposal
  • Which limits or strategies have intervened
  • Why the final price looks the way it looks
